Tourism in Voronezh Region and namely in Bobrovskiy District is promising trend and one of the most preferred orientations for regional development. Formed tourism cluster may combine all important and profitable tourist destinations (water, environmental, equestrian, visits of museums and natural landmarks, outside activities).

This District area has a huge number of landmarks, cultural heritage sites, natural monuments, archaeological settlements, stations and kurgan groups. As one of historical Russian cities, Bobrov is located just a hundred kilometres, 1.5 hours drive from Voronezh.

One may travel over the Bobrov land for architectural monuments and reserves, for visiting places where prominent figures of the past lived or for remaining kurgans, settlements and stations of ancestors.

The most popular are weekend circuit are «Provincial Express» and «Bobrov Berry» (in winter). The Bobrov centre preserved the initial planning approved by Catherine II in the 18th century, and the District architectural monuments relate to the end of the 19th — beginning of the 20th century.

Herein, the Fleet Admiral, Earl Alexey Orlov had been founded the Krenovskoy Stud Farm more than two hundred years ago.

Naturally, those who visiting these villages and settlements may enjoy seeing local beavers. These animals are listed in Red Book and protected by the regional authorities.

The Khrenovskoy Bor as valuable water protection reservoir is a very beautiful reservation park where century-old pines grow. This locality is a highly sought resort having around virgin steppes.

The island woodland is located on the left bank of the Bityug River, its area is about 40 thousand ha. Here, one may see more than 20 species of wood, more than 30 species of bushes, and it is interesting that some pines here are more than 230 years old.

Therein, cows and goats gaze on pastures, wild grasses and rural pastoral are everywhere; it is easy to breath, relax and take photos.

Story has it that local natural landmark Ship-kurgan nevertheless was human-made and its was banked in honour of Tatar princess who drowned in the Bityug River.

Rural Tourism

Lovers of rural tourism may see haymaking, growing crops and vegetables, buy genuine, juicy apples, pumpkins or different seeds. The District administration sees as development of cultural, event and educational tourism as promising. Tourists may visit «Bobrovksaya Yarmonka» Festival and buy vegetables, honey, fruits, valenki, birchbark items, handmade soap as well as bakery, diary and meat products not only from Bobrov but also from Yelets, Rostov, Suzdal and Penza. Visitors of some exhibitions may try fulling shoes in workshop, become binders of brooms and potters.

Archeology

More than hundred of historical sites (settlements, stations and kurgans) have already been studied in this locality. These sites relate to the Neolitic and Mesolitic Ages, the Bronze Age and early Iron Age as well as the Middle Ages. In most cases, they pertain to Ikorets River and Bityug River. Tatar nomads actively travelled over the Bobrovskiy District area in the 13th-15th centuries. Golden Horde mausoleums which are called «mosques» here are also worth visiting.

Art

People who are out of touch with science and communion with nature but love art in all forms will find it interesting to visit places where classics of literature lived and created their works: Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov, Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy.
Interestingly, ancestors of A.I. Solzhenitsyn were born in this area. Finally, the Bobrov land is motherland of three Olympic athletes, many writers and poets. Famous Russian musician, the founder and art director of folk chorus M. E. Pyatnitskiy was also born in Bobrov.

Ethnography

People of about hundred ethnicities live there, so for those who are fascinated by ethnography will find it interesting to talk with them, to know about ceremonies, national costumes and style of life of one or another group.
